The Associate Field Marketing Manager :: Seattle will be responsible for executing events and supporting Marketing programming in and around Seattle, Washington.  S/he will focus on localizing the Deschutes Brewery brand through consumer and influencer experiences that support the goals of the Pacific Northwest Business Unit. S/he will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with retailers, consumers, event organizers, key influencers + community groups, and distributors in collaboration with the Sales and Field Marketing team. S/he will manage part-time Event Ambassadors to assist with execution of on and off-premise events and will work closely with the local Sales team and the Washington Field Marketing Manager to develop, track, and evaluate local event and partnership strategy. This position must be based in Seattle, Washington with a territory focus on King County. He/She may occasionally travel outside of Western Washington to provide support throughout the Pacific Northwest Business Unit (Oregon, Washington, + Idaho).

What you'll be doing:

Key Account Development + Execution

  • Responsible for relationship development + event sell in/planning/execution in assigned Key Accounts
  • Supports Sales execution + growth in assigned Key Accounts
  • Supports event planning + execution for all Key Accounts, as needed
  • Communicates continuously with Market Manager(s)/Sales Specialist(s) + distributor Sales representatives within territory to coordinate execution of retail programming + events in Key Accounts
  • Assists Sales team and distributor partners with display activation + sell in, resets, and POS execution in on and off-premise accounts
  • Works with FMM to make retail activation recommendations that drive local strategy
  • Assists FMM with off-premise sampling scheduling, as needed
  • Conducts market surveys: competitive reviews, on and off-premise brand standards, etc.
  • Acts as an additional "expert witness" for their territory and relays key learnings, challenges, and opportunities to FMM/BUFMM regularly
  • Events + Experiential Marketing
  • Manages event planning, scheduling, and execution for assigned events within territory
    • Includes on + off-premise retail accounts, festivals, + non-traditional venues/events, including B2B events
    • Includes responsibility for meeting legal requirements and procuring permitting for assigned events, as needed
    • Includes scheduling and management of 1 - 2 part-time Events Ambassadors
    • Includes executing + attending multiple events on a weekly and monthly basis
    • Includes collaborating on planning with distributor and retail partners
    • Includes creating + executing event promotion plans (social media requests, print, etc.)
  • Assists Field Marketing Manager (FMM) :: Washington with initial + ongoing training of Events Ambassadors
  • Assists FMM + Business Unit Field Marketing Manager (BUFMM) with event planning and execution across the state of Washington + the Pacific Northwest Business Unit, as needed
  • Continuously contributes creative, fresh ideas for local activations that blow our customer's FUNkin' minds because this is beer, + beer is fun!
  • Sponsorships/Partnerships
  • Acts as the main contact for planning and execution of assigned sponsorships, B2B partnerships, and events within territory
  • Provides feedback, insight, + creative ideas to FMM during partnership development
  • Seeks out new partnerships within territory in collaboration with FMM and insight from Event Ambassadors that support territory + Business Unit strategic focus
  • Influencers + Local Community Relationships
  • Primary contact for the following community Marketing requests within territory:
    • Non-profit Engagements + Donations
    • Non-Profit Event Involvement, as assigned
    • Community Group Events + Donations
  • Seeks out and engages with key influencers throughout the territory in collaboration with the FMM (swag packages, event invitations, engagement opportunities, etc.)
  • Distributor Communication + Education
  • Assists FMM with creating and delivering educational tools for distributors and third parties, as needed
  • What you need for this position:
  • Minimum of 2 years experiential/event marketing experience
  • Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or other related field


  • Working knowledge of beer + the brewing industry
  • Prior Sales experience a plus
  • Ability to reliably travel locally on a daily basis + be on the road multiple times per year
  • Must possess a clean driving record

  • Ability to plan and organize a (frequently-changing) schedule according to travel, planning, + event priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task + re-prioritize on the fly
  • Ability to practice flexibility + creative problem solving on a daily basis
  • Experience in partner + vendor contract development and special event permitting
  • Professional experience in Social Media or Photography a plus
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Office 365, OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
