The Marketing Director develops, manages, and executes marketing programs for all brand portfolios within Deschutes Brewery and across the entire distribution footprint. The Marketing Director works cross-functionally with Sales, Product Development, Finance, Operations and Purchasing. This position provides direct oversight to brand planning, retail marketing, consumer marketing as well as internal and external communications. This position reports directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing and manages a small marketing team as well as outside agencies.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Leads the development of the annual marketing plan and builds alignment across the Marketing, Product Development, Sales and Senior Management teams
  • Partners with the VP of Sales & Marketing and Director of Product Development to discover innovation opportunities and assess revenue, volume and distribution potential
  • Collaborates with the Sales Development Director and Sales Analyst to develop compelling selling stories based on syndicated data, consumer research and competitive intelligence
  • Analyze trends in sales performance and adjust plans accordingly to meet the sales target
  • Collaborates with the National Accounts Team to develop and execute a comprehensive retail marketing plan that reaches and engages shoppers during their path to purchase
  • Partners with VP of Sales & Marketing to develop strategic (positioning, target consumer, etc.) and creative (packaging, naming, campaign) platforms for all brands within the Deschutes Brewery portfolio
  • Responsible for managing and executing the advertising, outside services and promotion sections of the marketing budget
  • Identifies opportunities for branding and packaging changes and improvements that align with consumer and competitive trends and executes projects when approved
  • Provides leadership, oversight, and direction to the marketing team as well as outside agencies and contractors
  • Partners with the Sales Leadership Team to ensure effective selling tools are provided
  • Works closely with outside legal counsel to ensure all packaging and marketing initiatives are compliant with federal and state regulations
  • Oversees the development of engaging content campaigns (social, PR, trade, etc.) to drive brand awareness and support sales initiatives
  • Conducts consumer research via outside agencies and internal resources at owned and operated properties
  • Identifies, sets, tracks and measures brand and team goals
  • Build and maintain key relationships across all departments of the company to achieve results
  • Accountable for reaching all assigned strategic goals
  • Manages direct reports including hiring, performance management, staff development, and succession planning
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What you'll need for this Position:

  • BA/BS year degree in marketing, communications, or business
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related experience
  • 5 years prior marketing management experience
  • Proven ability to manage budgets
  • Analytical thinker who adds value in all business settings
  • Action oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable working in an environment where everyone contributes to all phases of the business
  • Strong leader who can inspire a team and provide feedback
  • Knowledge of DTC, ecommerce, and other emerging classes of trade
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multitask
  • High competence in stakeholder management
  • Expert level experience in analyzing and synthesizing syndicated data (i.e. IRI and CRM)
